God’s Promises in His Word

God’s Promises:

Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Isaiah 40:29 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

More promises we found as a Life Group:

Joshua 1:9 (NLT) 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The promise: God is with us wherever we go.

Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

The promise: God is fighting for us.

John 14:12-15 (NLT) 12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, obey[a] my commandments.

The promise: Those who believe in Jesus will be able to do the same works as He did when He was on earth. And, when we ask anything in Jesus’ name He will do it.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

The promise: God’s plans are to prosper us and give us hope and a future.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

The promise: We were given power, love and self-discipline (sound mind in other versions of the Bible) when we said yes to Jesus.

Philippians 4:6 (NIV) 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The promise: God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds when we pray and give thanks instead of being anxious.

Galatians 5:18 (NIV)

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The promise: the virtues in verse 22 are a byproduct of living for God.
